I had big plans for my fig cuttings -- until yesterday they looked like they had given into a slow death. The leaves were droopy and still no roots had made an appearance.
Luckily I ran into my friend Anne this morning -- who fancies herself like me...a green thumb to boot. She essentially saved my cuttings, as post school drop off this morning I had planned to pop them in the compost.
Her advice was simple, yet I had never stopped to make the connection. The cuttings were not dying, they were simply putting all their energy into keeping the leaves alive. Anne's advice - just snip off the leaves.... Yep - like I said - simple.
So, straight home this morning to take care of them.
Lets see what happens. They should start to throw all their energy into setting out new roots.
I will keep you posty.
Thanks Anne....glad I metcha!
