Don't forgot the chopping board...
Once a week before I head up to bed, l give my all time favourite chopping board a good clean. I'm not a fan of bamboo (feels like I'm chopping on metal), plastic sheet boards (which in my mind are dangerous given the lack of traction) - yep I love my butcher block which I've nursed over 15 years and is still in ship-shape condition.
Cleaning - just squeeze 1 lemon over the board, give a good dusting with salt (I use kosher as it has a nice crystallize texture which lends an abrasive quality) and give it a good rub down with the lemon skin. I leave it overnight - then in the morning rinse it down. Once dry l wipe it down with a mineral oil for good measure.
